Coastal Retreats, various locations around the Northumberland Coast including Seahouses and Beadnell.
Architect/interior design duo, Fiona McKeith and Roger Copestake have made it their mission to scatter the stunning Northumberland coastline with exquisitely renovated cottages oozing seaside chic. Their ever expanding collection ranges from a three-bedroom penthouse in a converted mill, to a former grain store with huge vaulted ceilings, a selection of converted farm buildings and a cluster of fisherman’s cottages. All have been recently renovated with the couple’s trademark light bright interiors and shaker-styling. They boast original artworks, log burners, sumptuous soft furnishings and locations within a few minutes of spectacular beaches and charming fishing villages.
The attention to detail in the interior design is matched by thoughtful extras placed in the already well-equipped kitchens. Microwaves, dishwashers, washer dryers come as standard, but many cottages also have coffee machines, breadmakers, popcorn machines and smoothie makers. There are luxury touches like designer toiletries, mineral water by the beds, fresh flowers and a complimentary bottle of wine. Another bonus is membership to the nearby private health club which has a spa, an elegant pool, state-of-the-art gym, sauna, steam room, café/bar plus health and beauty treatment rooms. For special occasions, Coastal Retreats can arrange a private chef, waiting staff and even a cocktail waiter to host a dinner party at the cottages. Alternatively, a fresh or frozen home-made ready meal delivery service is available – catering for the self-catering! Coastal Retreats properties also have great facilities for kids. See our sister website www.babyfriendlyboltholes.co.uk for details.
Don’t miss the harbour view, real ale, hundreds of whiskey blends and homemade food at The Olde Ship in Seahouses – probably the best traditional pub in the North East! For fine dining try the new Sanctuary Restaurant in the dramatic setting of Alnwick Castle. Or cook up a gourmet fish supper ‘at home’ following a visit to the fantastic ‘Swallow Fish’ shop also in Seahouses. The walk from Craster Village to Dunstanborough Castle is recommended, especially when combined with a stop off for fish soup or crab sandwiches at the Jolly Fisherman en route.
Coastal Retreats currently have 11 properties sleeping 2-10 (plus cots). Some are adjoining and can be rented together by large groups of up to 32. Rentals are available year-round for weekly and short breaks and cost from £375 - £4,000 depending on the property size and length and time of stay.

"We've had 2 stays in the past year at Coastal Retreats properties and are already planning another.... For the first time, we didn't feel we had to compromise on style and luxury just so that the children were happy. It really was a proper holiday! And we'd forgotten how beautiful Northumberland and its coastline is. First Class!" Alison Dulson, Durham.
